Bisque Firing Services

burning barrelThere are a lot of independent ceramic artists who bring their work to be fired at our studio.

We bisque fire to cone 05, which ensures that most organic material and other nasty stuff is removed from the clay and that it is strong and ready for glazing.

We can bisque earthenware, terra cotta, stoneware, raku clay, and porcelain.

Please make sure your work is bone dry before bringing it, especially large sculptural pieces.

Pricing for bisque firing:

3 cents per cubic inch for most work.
Please note that the minimum height is 2.5 inches and
flat work such as this consumes many kiln shelves.

$ 1.50 a pound for sculptural work

If you wish to fire by the full kiln-load, the charge is $ 80

If you wish to fire by the full kiln-load, the charge is $ 80.
The kiln we use for low fire work is 7 cubic feet, not including
furniture, posts and necessary space.

Maximum width is 18" and height is 23".

Please note: Sculptural pieces must be hollowed out or no
thicker than 1".  We cannot accept heavy solid work.
Also make sure the work is fully dry, there's no room
for damp work to dry at our studio.
