Cone 10 Reduction Firing Services

Please feel free to bring your bisqued high fire stoneware or porcelain pieces to our studio for reduction firing in our Bailey Gas Kiln.

We carefully fire to cone 10, using an Oxyprobe to monitor the kiln's internal atmosphere. We go into early body reduction at cone 012, then switch to moderate reduction; the kiln is brought to temperature very slowly to ensure full maturity and beautiful results.

You can use your own glazes, mix cone 10R glazes in our glaze kitchen, or use our studio glazes.

Our cone 10R studio glazes include Celadon, several Shinos, VC Turquoise, VC Satin Black, Pete's Cranberry copper red, Turner's Beauty, Ron Roy's Old Black Magic, and many more.

If you bring your work to our studio for gas reduction firing at cone 10, please make sure you have the appropriate clay body and that you use a tested cone 10 reduction glaze.

Pricing for Cone 10 Reduction glaze firing:

If you are a student, resident or associate at our studio and you have already paid for firing and glazes by purchasing "class clay" - 2 cents per cubic inch.

If your are not using our "class clay" and you use your own glazes,
then the charge is 2 1/2 cents per cubic inch.

If your are not using our "class clay" and you use our studio glazes,
then the charge is 3 cents pre cubic inch.

If you wish to fire by the full kiln-load, the charge is $ 250 using your glazes, $ 300 using ours.
