Been
wanting to make taller pieces for a while?
There's an easier way.
Dana Lehrer Danze (formerly Dana Mitchell) will demonstrate methods of
throwing and combining two pieces to make an aesthetically pleasing taller form.
If you haven't had a chance yet to take a class with Dana, this is a great
opportunity. She's a wonderful teacher.
These techniques could also be used to make complex forms.
This method of combining forms is also known as "capping" especially in North
Carolina and Georgia.
It's often a lot easier on the back to center and throw two moderate sized
pieces and then combine them for the final form. There are lots of tricks
and tips to be demonstrated. Then you'll try it on a wheel!
If you've got a hand held torch, bring it. We'll have an extra torch
for those who don't. Bring your own clay and tools... and a couple of
bats.
Limited to 8 participants, sign up early.
$30 for Creative Clay Residents, Associates and
