Masters Workshop

| This is a workshop you won't want
to miss! For all skill levels, you'll be sure to pick up some tricks from this master potter. Hank Murrow, from Eugene, Oregon, has fifty years of experience to share with us. He was fortunate to study with many of the icons: Shoji Hamada, Bernard Leach, and Michael Cardew among them. Hank will be presenting the full range of wheel work in his repertoire, including displacement trimming, soft faceting, and lots of interesting ways to efficiently 'juice up' thrown forms. He also has lots of great hand-building techniques and forms to share with us. So, whether you primarily throw on the potters' wheel or hand build, there will be something for everyone. Friday night (7-10pm) will be open to the public and we'll all meet each other, watch a slide presentation by Hank and view his work in our gallery! Saturday we'll enjoy his presentation and Sunday we'll get to try out his tools and do a little hands-on and finish up with a pot luck. He also has three great slide shows for us:

Life in Clay.... so far, anyway! Hank has written wonderful articles in Ceramics Monthly about his quest for luscious shino glazes and his techniques for firing to achieve beautiful white shino and orange "fire color". He also designed a special kiln which was also featured in Ceramics Monthly. Don't miss this opportunity to grow as a potter. Limited to 20 participants, sign up early. |
