Open Studio for Students

Creative Clay Studios believes that significant progress can be made by practicing between class sessions. We encourage students to practice and have a liberal open studio policy.

Come in and work in a pleasant atmosphere and collaborate with other artists. Students must show they can work independently and may come to the studio any time Open Studio is scheduled during regular sessions.

Open studio time is included in class registration fees and allows the student limited access to throw using studio wheels from the start date of class in which student is enrolled until the last day of class.

Limits: While we have a liberal policy, we do not intend that students use the studio to excess. Open studio is a time to practice for a few hours a couple times a week. It is not to be used as if it were a full-time production pottery job. Space for students is limited to class shelves. Remember that the class shelves are for everyone in the class and should not be overwhelmed by anyone. Please limit your open studio use to three hours a day, or make special arrangements with us.

Also, please remember that you must work independently during this time. Staff, resident artists and associates may be doing their own work and consideration should be given not to unduly burden them with questions or distraction. We are usually quite sharing but please respect our needs to do our work.

Non Student Open Studio

Potters who are not enrolled at Creative Clay are welcome to come in and use our facilities for an hourly fee. Participants must furnish their own clay and tools, and storage or firing is not included. Independent work is necessary, no instruction is included. You may arrange for firing separately. We have electric, gas, and raku kilns available on-site and offer off-site wood and salt firings. If you are in the area for a short time, you may also arrange for storage space.

Fees for non-students: $6 per hour.

Tuesday through Friday 10 am - 6 pm
Saturday 11am - 3:30 pm
Tuesday Evening 6 - 10 pm

We have a room with six wheels reserved for use by our associates and those wishing to use the open studio while classes are being taught in the main studio.
