Marianne and her Salt Kiln

Come revel in the salt firing process.  Participants will work as a team and become familiar with all aspects of the process.  Marianne reveals glaze recipes, loading techniques and her experience with previous firings.  This will all take place near the Shenandoah River at Marianne's lovely mountain home, just 65 miles from Tyson's Corner.

Each student may bring 12-15 medium sized pots which must be bisque fired prior to the workshop.  Discover how the addition of salt to the kiln can enhance the surface of your form.  This will be an impressive experience to add to your journey with clay!  Types of clay, form suggestions and driving directions will be mailed later.  Clay must be cone 10.
