Yixing Teapot Workshop with Dave Straney

If you've been admiring the wonderful Yixing teapots on the top shelf of our display here at Creative Clay, but haven't been able to make it to one of Dave Straney's workshops, here is your chance!  His workshops fill up very quickly, so give us a call.

Dave demonstrates the construction of these fantastic Yixing style teapots and then he and his daughter Sarah help everyone make their own. He brings actual Yixing Teapots from China as well as a large collection of his own teapot creations.  Each one is absolutely fascinating and beautiful.  He invites participants to choose a teapot and brew their own tea.

Everyone becomes a part of the experience as Dave shares his passion for constructing Yixing teapots.  He will guide you through the slab construction process and each person will be able to go home with a teapot they have created themselves.

We have had participants with little or no clay experience make some of the most beautiful!  What you learn about feet, handles and spouts can also carry into your wheel thrown work.

Provided: Clay for constructing your teapot, tea, snack and drink.  We'll also bisque and final fire your piece for you.
